About the Leyte Reforestation Project
The Leyte Reforestation Project is a forest restoration initiative founded in 2014 with a goal of developing new forests to support long-term recovery from Super Typhoon Haiyan, the largest storm in recorded history at the time.
Over the years, LRP has worked to develop organic, native tree farming techniques in their accredited forestry nursery, and climate resilient planting methods that can be used for restoring degraded land and usher in a return to a biodiverse landscape. These methods are now being taught to young generations of students from Visayas State University Forestry program through an on the job training program where young foresters gain the knowledge they need to move forward in careers of forest landscape restoration.
